A TV anime broadcast in 1974, "Space Battleship Yamato" depicts the far-reaching journey and battles of the interstellar space battleship "Yamato," built in the year 2199 to save the Earth from the threat of destruction due to an invasion by the alien Garmillan Empire. It sparked a Space Battleship Yamato boom throughout Japan, and became the foundation of Japanese animation culture that continues to this day. The latest installment in the "Space Battleship Yamato" remake series, "Yamato Forever REBEL3199," the first of seven chapters, "Chapter 1: Black Invasion," was released in theaters on Friday, July 19, 2024.
This watch has three subdials reminiscent of Leiji Matsumoto's mechanical designs.
The anchor mark symbolizing the Space Battleship Yamato is at the top of the dial at 3 and 9 o'clock, evoking the instruments inside the first bridge. Furthermore, the small second hand at 6 o'clock is an inspiring design that reflects the moment when the wave motion gun is fired, glowing pale blue.
