Description

The Seiko Prospex Alpinist SBDC211 is a Seiko Global Brand Core Shop exclusive that carries one of the most coherent and historically grounded design identities in Seiko's modern lineup. The Alpinist lineage traces directly to 1959 and the Laurel Alpinist — Seiko's first dedicated mountaineering watch, designed for the conditions of high-altitude ascent: high legibility, compass orientation, reliable mechanical movement, and a case built to take whatever the mountain offers. More than six decades later, the SBDC211 continues that brief without compromise. The forest green dial — a colour directly referencing the alpine landscape — is covered by a lens-curved sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating, giving it a distinctive rounded profile that elevates it visually above a flat-crystal watch at any price point. The simplified compass inner rotating bezel is graduated and readable; the screw-lock crown keeps water out to 200 metres. Caliber 6R55, 72-hour power reserve, Dia-Shield coating on the stainless steel case. Genuine cowhide leather strap with one-push triple fold clasp. Available exclusively through Seiko Global Brand Core Shops. Made in Japan.

Key Features:

  • Forest Green Lens Sapphire Dial — The Alpinist's Signature: The forest green dial is the defining visual element of the Alpinist series — a colour rooted in the alpine environment that the original 1959 watch was built for. The lens-curved sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating creates a distinctive domed profile that gives the dial a three-dimensional depth not found in flat-crystal competitors at this price point. The combination of the green dial and curved sapphire is what makes an Alpinist immediately identifiable.
  • Simplified Compass Inner Rotating Bezel: The inner rotating bezel is graduated for simplified compass use — align the bezel with the hour hand and the sun to determine cardinal directions without a dedicated compass. A functional mountaineering feature carried from the original 1959 Alpinist into every subsequent model in the lineage, and one that distinguishes the Alpinist from every other Prospex reference.
  • Caliber 6R55 — 72-Hour Power Reserve, Dia-Shield Case: The 6R55 is one of Seiko's premium automatic calibers: 24 jewels, approximately 72 hours of power reserve on a full wind, manual winding capability, hacking seconds. The stainless steel case is finished with Dia-Shield for superior scratch resistance. 39.5mm diameter, 12.7mm thick, 46.4mm lug-to-lug, 88g — proportions that wear neutrally on a wide range of wrist sizes.
  • Screw-Lock Crown & 200m Water Resistance: The screw-lock crown at 3 o'clock secures the movement against water entry to 200 metres — significantly more than daily life requires, and confirmation of the case architecture's integrity. The see-through screw caseback reveals the 6R55 movement.
  • Seiko Global Brand Core Shop Exclusive: Available only through Seiko's designated Global Brand Core Shops — the network of premium Seiko retail partners worldwide. Not available through general Seiko distribution channels. Made in Japan.
