The Seiko Presage Classic Series Craftsmanship — Enamel Dial (HCC005J) is a watch that inherits the design of the Laurel — Japan's first wristwatch, produced by Seiko in 1913 — and carries it forward through one of the most technically demanding traditional crafts in Japanese watchmaking: 琺瑯 (hōrō), hand-fired enamel. The white enamel dial is not painted. It is fired. Powdered glass fused to metal at high temperature, adjusted firing by firing according to the day's temperature and humidity, built up layer by layer until the surface achieves its characteristic luminous depth — a warmth and dimensionality that no other white dial material can replicate. The dial of the original 1913 Laurel was enamel. More than a century later, this one is too. Supervised by master enamel craftsman Yokosawa Mitsuru — one of Japan's foremost enamel dial specialists, capable of detecting 0.01mm surface variance by eye — and executed by Uchiyama Kazunori, factory director of Fuji Horo's Tsukuba plant and inheritor of Yokosawa's techniques. Each dial is a unique, handmade piece. Arabic numerals in the Laurel heritage typeface, with the "12" in red as per the original. Deep blue hands that shift tone with viewing angle. • Laurel Heritage Design — Red "12", Arabic Numerals, Blued Hands: The dial layout directly references the 1913 Laurel: Arabic numerals in the original heritage typeface, printed in multiple layers to achieve three-dimensional contrast, with the "12" in red as per the original model. The deep blue hands shift in colour with light angle and viewing position, harmonising with the enamel's soft warmth.
• New Thin-Bezel Case — The Art of Subtraction: The new case design minimises the glass bezel to near-invisibility, maximising the enamel dial's visual presence. 39.6mm diameter, 12.4mm thick — restrained and precisely sized for everyday wear. Stainless steel with Dia-Shield surface treatment for scratch resistance.
