The Casio x Café Kitsuné Collaboration Watch (AQ-230ECK-3AJR) is what happens when Casio Classic's legacy of quietly dependable analogue-digital design meets Café Kitsuné — the Franco-Japanese café brand that has, since its 2013 Tokyo opening in Aoyama, become one of the most precise expressions of the cultural intersection between France and Japan. The brief is simple and executed with precision: take the AQ-230, a Casio Classic reference with deep affection among those who know it, and render it entirely in the language of Café Kitsuné's matcha aesthetic.
The dial is matcha green — the colour that Café Kitsuné brought to Paris in 2014, when they introduced Japanese matcha culture to the French coffee scene years before it became internationally ubiquitous. Against this green ground: the Café Kitsuné fox, the brand's iconic mascot, printed on the dial alongside the standard AQ-230 layout of analogue hands and digital window. The caseback is engraved with the fox symbol and the Café Kitsuné logo. The clasp carries the Café Kitsuné logo. The special packaging is coloured in the same matcha palette.
