The Seiko Presage Classic Series x TRADMAN'S BONSAI Limited Edition (HCC011J) is the first collaboration between Seiko Presage and TRADMAN'S BONSAI — two Japanese institutions that share a commitment to expressing Japan's aesthetic consciousness through their respective crafts. TRADMAN'S BONSAI was founded in 2015 by Kojima Teppei — a fashion industry buyer who became captivated by the depth of Japanese traditional culture — with the mission of bringing bonsai to the world not as a relic of the past but as a living, evolving expression of Japanese creativity. Seiko Presage has spent decades translating Japanese craft traditions into mechanical watchmaking. Together, they have produced a watch whose design language is specific, considered, and deeply rooted: the image that inspired it is "Black Pine Illuminated by Moonlight" — the silhouette of a Japanese black pine bonsai caught in cold lunar light, branches reaching across the darkness with the quiet force of something that has survived centuries. The dial's newly developed three-dimensional embossed pattern traces the S-curve of a bent trunk, the bark cracking across the surface with the wild texture of an old pine. The colour is松葉色 (matsubaiiro, "pine needle colour") — an ancient Japanese traditional colour associated with good fortune — rendered in a green gradient that shifts from deep shadow to moonlit brightness across the curved dial surface. Gold-plated case, hands and indices reference the moon. A replacement leather strap with black pine bark embossing is included; "三鈷の松" (the three-needle pine, a symbol of good fortune) is engraved on the strap reverse. • 松葉色 (Matsubaiiro) Green Gradient Dial — Traditional Japanese Colour: The dial colour is inspired by松葉色 — "pine needle colour" — one of Japan's ancient traditional colours, considered auspicious since the Heian period and associated with the evergreen vitality of the pine. The gradient shifts from deep forest shadow at the perimeter to a lighter, moonlit tone toward the centre, evoking the pine's needle canopy illuminated from above. Gold indices and hands in mirror polish express the moon's reflection on the dial below.
• Yellow Gold Plated Case & Mirror-Polished Gold Hands & Indices: The 38.0mm stainless steel case is plated in yellow gold — an unusual choice for a Seiko Presage Classic Series release that gives the HCC011J a jewellery-adjacent formality while keeping it distinctly wearable. The mirror-polished gold hands and indices are designed to reference the cold brightness of moonlight on water.
• Replacement Leather Strap — Pine Bark Emboss & 三鈷の松 Engraving: A replacement cowhide leather strap is included alongside the gold bracelet. The strap exterior carries a bark-like emboss pattern referencing the black pine's texture; the strap reverse bears a pressed engraving of 三鈷の松 (sankono-matsu) — a three-needled pine considered a symbol of good fortune in Japanese tradition, said to have been brought back from China by Kūkai (Kōbō Daishi) in the 9th century.
