Limited to just 1,989 pieces — referencing 1989, the year Masamune Shirow's landmark manga first began serialisation in Young Magazine — every design element of this watch is constructed around Kusanagi Motoko and the cyberpunk world she inhabits. The skeleton dial strips away the dial entirely to expose the Miyota automatic movement beneath — the mechanical heartbeat of a cyborg made visible, framed by a network of printed wiring and plug motifs that evoke the neural lace and data infrastructure of the Ghost in the Shell universe. Blue indices reference the luminous network world that Motoko navigates as a full-body cyborg. Connectors and bullet casings are incorporated into the dial design as printed elements.
