The D51 Steam Locomotive × Seiko Collaboration Watch is a PREMICO × Seiko commemorative chronograph for Showa 100, built on D51 No. 200. The D51, nicknamed "Degoichi", carried Japan's freight from the early Showa era through the years of high economic growth. No. 200 is kept in running order by JR West, was designated a quasi-railway memorial item as part of the Umekoji steam locomotive group on Railway Day, October 14, 2006, and has hauled the SL Yamaguchi.
The locomotive's jet-black body sets the colour of the watch, an all-black chronograph. The dial takes the front of the locomotive, the smokebox door, as its motif: a headlamp at 12 o'clock, the gold "D51 200" number plate at the top centre, and a subdial at 6 o'clock that carries the smokebox door handle. Gold appears only on the number plate and the handle, so the dial stays black with a locomotive's two brightest details picked out.
The caseback is engraved with the locomotive nameplate, a commemorative inscription and the edition number, from a run limited to 5,000 pieces. The watch arrives in a black special box foil-stamped with the D51 No. 200 logo, with a photo of the locomotive running under a plume of black smoke set inside. Seiko quartz chronograph, stainless steel case, caseback and band, 47 × 39.8 × 12.8mm, curved Hardlex crystal, 10ATM water resistance, 3-year quality warranty. Made in Japan. Licensed by JR West.
*Pre-Order! Estimated shipment from mid-January 2027.*
Key Features:
- Smokebox-Door Dial — Headlamp, "D51 200" Number Plate, Door-Handle Subdial: The dial is modelled on the front of D51 No. 200. A headlamp motif sits at 12 o'clock, the "D51 200" number plate at the top centre, and the 6 o'clock subdial carries the smokebox door handle.
- All-Black with Gold Accents: The black finish follows the locomotive's jet-black body. Gold is kept for the number plate and the door handle, the two details that read first on the real locomotive.
- Edition-Numbered Caseback — 5,000 Pieces: The caseback carries the locomotive nameplate, a commemorative inscription and the individual edition number. Limited to 5,000 pieces.
- Black Display Box with Foil-Stamped Logo and Locomotive Photo: The special box is black, with the D51 No. 200 logo foil-stamped on it and a photo of the locomotive running in a plume of black smoke inside. Styled for the vintage romance of the Showa 100 anniversary.
- Seiko Quartz Chronograph, Curved Hardlex, 10ATM — Made in Japan, 3-Year Warranty: Quartz movement with an average monthly accuracy of ±15 seconds. Stainless steel case, caseback and band, 47 × 39.8 × 12.8mm. The metal band uses an easy-adjust system with a tool included, in sizes S (14cm), M (16cm) and L (18cm), each adjustable from 14 to 20cm.
