Why you CANNOT Miss This Hidden Vintage Watch Shop while in Osaka
Share
At The Japanese Factory, we’re always on the hunt for Japan’s most interesting watch spots: from the alleys of Tokyo to the unexpected corners of Kyoto. But this time, we took a bullet train 3 hours out to Osaka to visit a truly hidden gem: BB Amemura. Part toy store, part horological treasure chest, part nostalgia museum—this shop is unlike anything we’ve ever seen.
What Makes BB Amemura Special?
Unlike Tokyo, which is bursting with vintage watch stores, Osaka has fewer—but more eccentric—spots. BB Amemura is the perfect example: a cozy shop filled wall-to-wall with not just vintage watches, but also retro toys, games, vintage cameras, and more.
You’ll find:
- Rare Citizen Bullheads & Grand Seikos
- Omega Constellations in rainbow colors
- Pocket watches from the 1930s
- A tactile watch designed for the visually impaired
- Wildly unique bracelets and dials you won’t see anywhere else
A Chat with the Staff
We spoke with one of the friendly staff members who shared that the owner originally ran restaurants but had an overflowing warehouse of antiques and watches. BB Amemura was born from that personal collection; an authentic expression of passion, not profit.
Their favorite piece? A mint-condition Heuer Autavia with original Gay Frères bracelet. And yes, it’s as gorgeous as it sounds.
So... What Did We Buy?
It was hard to choose, but we ended up walking out with a Seiko Quartz Type II featuring an incredible linen dial that shifts beautifully in the light. Rare, affordable, and completely unexpected.
Planning a Trip to Osaka?
If you ever find yourself in Osaka, BB Amemura is worth a detour. And when you go, let them know The Japanese Factory sent you. You never know what treasure you might uncover.
